FREELANCE ART DIRECTION, GRAPHIC DESIGN AND WEB DESIGN:

Specializing in graphic design, both traditional and Macintosh aided. Abilities include, but are not limited to; conceptualizing, designing and producing direct mail campaigns, sales promotion pieces, print ads, posters, catalogs, brochures and packaging. Clients have included SaveSmart, Inc, Visiting Nurses of Hudson Valley, CUC International, Cuisinart, Grolier Books, Cowles Business Media, Weissman Travel Reports, Deloitte & Touche, Market Imaging Systems, Prentice Hall, International Masters Publishers (IMP), Hastings House Publishing, MemberWorks, Synergy Information, Times Mirror Magazines, McGraw Hill, Mirbach & Company, Harper & Row, St. Clare's Hospital, and others.

CREATIVE DIRECTOR:

Design and production for HIGH PERFORMANCE REVIEW (HPR) MAGAZINE, a high tech publication (produced quarterly) and ZASSHI , geared towards Japanese Americans and tourists (produced six times a year)

SENIOR ART DIRECTOR:

Handled all art related aspects of new member acquisition (direct mail and advertising) for book clubs such as The Literary Guild, The Science Fiction Book Club, The Fireside Theatre, Mystery Guild, The Doubleday Large Print Home Library and the Military Book Club. Work began at concept, continued through comp, coordination of freelance and in house departments, to finished work. Also responsible for concept and execution of print ads appearing in national publications, such as The New York Times Book Review, Omni, Discover and others. Responsibilities included extensive research and coordination of desktop publishing procedures for entire art department featuring Macintosh computers. Additional duties included being Network Administrator for this system.

PROMOTION DESIGN SUPERVISOR:

In charge of all creative promotional material for the prestigious Junior Books Group. Responsibilities included design and coordination of catalogs, brochures, point-of-purchase displays, and sales material as well as interaction with production and cover art staff, copywriters, and outside suppliers. Created successful image, including logo and four color catalog design for the Harper Carousel line of mass market children’s books. Designed packaging for Maurice Sendak’s Where The Wild Things Are dolls, as well as for I Can Read and Let’s-Read-and-Find-Out Book and Cassette packages. Responsible for the look of many successful promotions for the Education Marketing Department and the Special Markets Department.

PROMOTION ART DIRECTOR:

Created the promotion art department for this mass market paperback publisher. Supervised all art and production for one, two and four color brochures, monthly releases, order forms, posters, floor displays, magazine and newspaper ads. Responsible for concept, design, layout, comps, mechanicals, dealing with printers, photographers, copywriters, trafficking and production personnel.
